FAMILY SUPPORT

We believe strong families create healthy communities. Our trauma-informed parenting and relationship-building classes and programs ensure emotional, mental and physical health starts within the home. Our family support services and programs include:

BraveHearts for Dads

Empowering fathers.

The six-week BraveHearts for Dads program empowers fathers, or father figures to play an important role in the development and well-being of their child. According to the US census bureau, 1 out of 3 children will live without their biological father in the home. Research shows that when a child is raised in a father-absent home, they are more likely to have behavioral challenges, face abuse and neglect and abuse drugs and alcohol. This free and voluntary program utilizes the 24/7 Dad curriculum through the National Fatherhood Initiative, and is available for dads in Clay, Platte, Jackson, Johnson and Cass counties.

Home-Based Prevention Services

Keeping families together.

Parenthood isn’t always easy and we understand that sometimes families need additional support. Our home-based prevention teams work tirelessly to prevent the separation of families. Many families and individuals in these programs have a history of trauma, abuse and/or neglect, intimate partner violence, mental health challenges and/or substance abuse issues. We recognize the need to break the cycle, and  our Intensive In-Home Services (IIS) serves families whose children are at immediate risk of being removed from the home by working intensely in the home to keep them safely together.

Home-Based Intervention Services

Bringing families back together.

Through our home-based intervention services we partner with families to reunite them safely together. Families eligible for these services have recently had a child removed from the home, or are families receiving foster care case management. Our Family Reunification Services (FRS) and Parent Aide services share the same goal of providing educational support, connecting families to community resources and providing solution-focused therapy in order to bring the family safely back together.
