BraveHearts for Dads is a free and voluntary fathering empowerment program. Any father or caregiver seeking to improve the relationship with their child and strengthen their protective factors is encouraged to enroll.

  • You are a father or father-figure and caregiver to a child or adolescent.
  • You want to learn about the responsibilities and role of fathering.
  • You want to improve the relationship with the child in your life.
  • You live in Clay, Platte, Jackson, Johnson or Cass county.

  • To commit to six weekly Sunday sessions from 1pm - 5pm
  • Sessions are located at the Cornerstones of Care - Hyde Park campus. Sessions can also be scheduled at other locations, such as a community shelter, school, etc.
  • We will provide special incentives and light refreshments.
  • A fatherhood support network.

  • Skills for interacting with your child's mother and other caregivers and providers.
  • Better understanding of bonding and attachment.
  • Your rights and responsibilities as a father.
  • Skills for managing your physical health.
  • Important levels of child development.
  • Parenting and discipline skills.
  • Techniques for fatherhood development.
  • How to strengthen family protective factors.

Sessions are led by Gerald Palmer practicing the National Fatherhood Initiative. This program is made possible through funding provided by the MO Children's Trust Fund. You can purchase a 'Prevent Child Abuse' license plate and a portion of sales goes to MO Children's Trust Fund, which in turn helps fund community prevention programs — like BraveHearts for Dads.
