Healthcare Integration is a new and rapidly growing program within our organization. As a trauma-informed organization we recognize that health and wellbeing does not exist in isolated categories, but is a continuum. We further recognize that trauma impacts both physical and behavioral health. Therefore, we know that in order to achieve optimum health and wellbeing, we must treat the whole person. Our healthcare integration team includes community-based nursing, campus-based nursing, nutritional health services, health information management, employee health and wellbeing initiatives, and emergency access.

Our Goal of the Program is to:

  • Address the behavioral and medical healthcare need of the children, youth and families that we serve, whether chronic or acute. Further, we know that healthcare from a trauma-informed approach provides a deeper opportunity to bring healing to children, who have endured adverse childhood experiences, which impacts all aspects of a child’s health and wellbeing.
  • Create a fully integrated healthy home for those we serve that engages like-minded community partners in order to increase timely access to healthcare, increase the quality and continuity of care provided, ensure opportunities for children and families to develop relationships of trust with providers, and to build an evidence-based model that can be replicated throughout the broader human service community.
  • Address the health and wellbeing of our staff at every level. We acknowledge that the work we do can create secondary trauma in our staff. For this reason, the integrated healthcare team will be creating health and wellbeing initiatives geared toward addressing the needs of our staff and enhancing their overall health and wellbeing.
