GIVING TUESDAY
This #GivingTuesday, we’re raising money to purchase brand new car seats for families in our kinship foster care program. Join us on Tuesday, November 28 by making a financial donation here or on our Facebook fundraiser and help our families #BuckleUp for a Safe Adventure this winter!
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are three essential steps to keeping kids safe while in car seats:
- Find the right car seat. Car seats are not a one-size-fits-all type of thing and children need different car seats depending on their age and weight.
- Install your car seat correctly. There are helpful videos online about car seat installation and use and new and some used car seats will contain this information as well.
- Keep your child safe in a car seat. This includes registering your car seat, signing up to receive safety updates or recall notices, and using safe driving practices.
At Cornerstones of Care, we want to be with our families from step one, providing them with the ability to check out or own car seats that are appropriate for their child’s size and weight. Many of our car seats are made available to kinship foster families, or relatives and non-related kin who provide loving homes for children when their biological parents are unable to care for them. When families don’t have to worry about the expense and hassle of purchasing a car seat, they are able to spend more time caring for their kids and adapting to their new normal.
