Cornerstones of Care Eastern Region Outpatient Therapy Team

Our Cornerstones of Care therapists in the Eastern Region serve individuals and families affected by mental illness, life challenges, and trauma. A licensed therapist will work with you and/or your family to improve relationships and connections. We specialize in healing trauma at attachment, specifically with foster and adoptive care families.

Our therapists are trained in trauma and attachment therapy techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), and Training for Adoption Competency (TAC).

We’re accepting individual clients and families in our outpatient office in St. Louis. We also provide therapists who work directly in schools, supporting students facing challenges and their families with personalized care and guidance to help them overcome obstacles and thrive.

We take self-pay, Medicaid, and commercial insurance forms of payment.

Meet our team:

Alexis Choppi, LPC

Alexis Choppi has her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University.

She specializes in adolescent and teen mental and behavioral health. She also sees individual clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, stress, and trauma. Alexis focuses on fostering a safe and welcoming therapeutic space where her clients are free to explore their challenges and feelings without judgment. Her personal therapeutic philosophy is rooted in genuine curiosity and presence, and this is reflected in her practice.

Alex Lubbe, LMSW

Alex Lubbe is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Missouri. Alex has experience supporting teens and their families through the unique challenges they face, particularly within the juvenile justice system. With training in trauma-informed care, Alex takes a collaborative and client‑centered approach, creating a space where young people feel seen, accepted, and empowered to grow.

Alex believes deeply in each person’s capacity to heal. In their view, the therapist is one tool among many that can help guide that process. Alex works with clients to build emotional awareness, strengthen their ability to navigate difficult feelings, and develop a stronger sense of autonomy. Their practice emphasizes empathy, curiosity, and non‑judgment, rooted in the belief that individuals, families, and communities thrive when given safe spaces to heal.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys outdoor activities, fiber arts, watching movies, and playing board and card games.

Laura Nolan, LPC, LCPC

Laura has a bachelor’s in psychology and sociology from Maryville University and a Master of Education in counseling from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She is the clinical manager of the practice and isn’t taking clients at this time. She can, however, provide licensure supervision to the PLPC.

She specializes in supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and their families who are seeking help with youth behavior, using a family-centered, strength-based approach with a focus on trauma and attachment. She has extensive experience working with families who have a history of trauma, abuse, and neglect. Working with youth with attachment issues is challenging, but the rewards for the child and their caregivers are priceless. She has over ten years of experience working closely with families in their homes supporting at risk youth to prevent out-of-home placement. She takes pride in empowering families to reach their individualized goals.
