Anchors of Tomorrow Fund

Cornerstones of Care is looking for staff to lead the Early Childhood Mental Health Collective, a product of the Hall Family Foundation grant. Team members are getting to know staff at five early childhood centers throughout Kansas City. The team members, including some who are bilingual in English and Spanish, also will spend time in classrooms building relationships. The work funded through this grant leans into our focus on prevention and providing trauma-informed care before family separation occurs.

A Lesson on Giving Back by Key Bank

From sponsoring foster youth through holiday gift drives to donating school supplies and hygiene products, Key Bank’s generosity knows no bounds. Every November, Key Bank sets up a Christmas tree adorned with tags showcasing wish lists for foster youth in the Sponsor-A-Youth program. Employees eagerly pick tags, fill gift bags, and deliver them to Cornerstones of Care. Key Bank aims to sponsor 50 youth, delivering three gifts per child, ensuring no one is forgotten.

2024 Spirit Award Winner: Christine & Robert Leyva

Since moving to Kansas City in 2014, Christine and Robert Leyva have made community service a central part of their lives, most notably through their annual “Fiesta de Leyva,” a neighborhood party that has grown into a charity event benefiting Cornerstones of Care.

2024 Spirit Award Winner: Kansas City Young Matrons

The Kansas City Young Matrons, a 108-year-old nonprofit with over 300 members, has partnered with Cornerstones of Care since 1987, contributing both financially and through hands-on volunteer work. One of their most cherished efforts is the annual holiday event for the students at the Gillis Campus Day Treatment School, where KCYM members bake cookies and help students make holiday crafts.
