Reintroducing Cornerstones of Care’s Volunteer Champions

Cornerstones of Care is excited to relaunch our Cornerstones of Care Champions program. We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join.

Since the 2017 Cornerstones of Care merger, our organization and our offerings have grown exponentially, as have the needs of the youth and families we serve. In light of this, we recognized the need to bring together a diverse group of like-minded volunteers who are passionate about supporting our mission. By organizing this group, we hope to increase our community presence, amplify our voice on important issues, and further enhance the support we can offer those in need.

The Champions program offers a unique opportunity for individuals to make a meaningful impact by volunteering on our campuses, organizing fundraising events, conducting in-kind drives, and spreading awareness of our work within their networks. We are seeking individuals who are eager to contribute their time, talent, and resources to support our mission, while helping to raise visibility for Cornerstones of Care in communities that may not be fully aware of all the services we provide. The goal is to empower our Champions to take ownership of their initiatives, developing creative solutions and spearheading efforts that align with their personal interests and strengths.

In addition to making a difference, our Champions will have the chance to grow professionally by expanding their skill sets in leadership, philanthropy, advocacy, and volunteerism. This program offers a unique opportunity to enhance resumes, prepare for potential future board membership, and network with other passionate community members and Cornerstones of Care staff. We want to foster an environment where our Champions have the freedom to shape their own philanthropic journeys, thereby driving the program’s success from within.

Champions at our Midsummer Games in 2020

To kick off the Champions program, we will be hosting two happy hour networking events throughout the year to bring together supporters and discuss our goals. The first event will take place on Thursday, April 10th, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Southside Bar & Grille (1144 W 103rd St, KCMO). We also encourage those interested in learning more about our programs to join us at our monthly “Caring About Community Coffee” meetings, held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Gillis Campus. A SignUp Genius link with upcoming dates is available, and we invite anyone interested to choose a day that works best for them. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of the youth and families we serve.
